Why do some “100% natural soy wax” candles cost only a few dollars for a big tub and others cost three, four, or many times more for a fraction of that size???
It’s all in the ingredients. There are no industry standards for soy content labeling in candles. Consequently many of the soy candles on the market contain as little as 10% or 25% of the coveted “100% natural” soy wax they claim to be made of. Mixed with cheaper paraffin wax, these candles cost much less and avoid the many difficulties that come with producing premium quality soy candles.
Also, try Googling fragrance oils on your computer some time. You can find some that cost just a couple of dollars per pound – you can find others that cost $16, $30, and much more for a single pound of oil. Premium candles use more expensive oils and sometimes a higher proportion of oil to wax. Then there are higher costs associated with premium packaging or if the candles are hand poured vs. machine poured.
Here at Wayfarer Candles we spend the extra money to buy great wax (Eco Soya ™ - 85% soy, 15% palm and other natural vegetable waxes;) use the best oils; we hand pour the candles; and we’ve developed unique innovative packaging – all the things that make “premium” candles premium. And yet, we have priced our candles reasonably at the lower end of that spectrum.
